UKI NETS is governed by the following constitution:
- UKI NETS is a collaborative force of clinicians interested in improving the diagnosis and therapy of patients with neuroendocrine tumours within a national, multidisciplinary and scientific context.
- Membership of UKI NETS is open to clinical doctors and research scientists who have a major interest in neuroendocrine tumours. Membership is not open to patients or to the general public
- UKI NETS is composed of a steering committee consisting of specialists with an expertise in neuroendocrine tumours representing the main geographic regions within the UK as well as the multiple disciplines associated with the management of neuroendocrine tumours.
- The UKI NETS steering committee must elect a chairman, scientific secretary and treasurer. Elections should be held every three years.
- The steering committee meets three to four times per year and the aim is to report annually to the national group of interested specialists via an annual UKI NETS conference.
- Membership of the UKI NETS steering committee requires continuous active participation in UKI NETS and therefore absence from more than half of all UKI NETS activities will result in exclusion from the steering committee.
- UKI NETS aims to form consensus guidelines for the management of neuroendocrine tumours and to perform clinical and scientific collaborative studies. This does not exclude members of UKI NETS developing their own research programme but all are expected to participate in common protocols developed within UKI NETS.
- UKI NETS should collaborate with ENETS (The European Neuroendocrine Tumour Study Society) to promote international harmonisation of management as well as collaborate in clinical and scientific studies.
- UKI NETS should liaise with the patient support groups for neuroendocrine tumours.
- UKI NETS should be affiliated to professional organisations represented by the multidisciplinary make-up of the group.
In addition, the limited company UKI NETS Limited, company registration number 6672185, is governed by the legal memorandum & articles of association (pdf) (77kb).
